OHIO Gravure Technologies now offers the Xitron Navigator Hi-Resolution RIP for the Collage Layout System.
The Xitron Navigator RIP is the industry standard, a full-featured, up-to-date, robust RIP used for virtually every output device used in the graphic arts industry.
With the Ohio GT RIP Plug-in, the Navigator RIP can now produce Collage-format images from PDF or PostScript at up to 5000 dpi. While we recommend a resolution of 2000 dpi for standard engraving, a higher resolution benefits images to be used for tranScribe or Hybrid Engraving.
The workflow is simple: The design operator saves the PDF or PostScript image into a RIP Hot Folder. The Xitron Hi-Res RIP finds the image, rips it, and moves it to a Collage source folder. The Collage operator can then use the image in a job.
The Xitron Hi-Res RIP runs on a Windows PC. It can run on the same PC as the Collage software, or a separate PC if your workload is heavy or you have more than one Collage computer.
New Collage customer get one seat of the Xitron Hi-Res RIP with the Ohio GT RIP plug-in included.
Existing Collage customers have two choices:
Customers with Collage verion 2.x may already have an old version of Navigator RIP and the old OEE RIPthrough plug-in. These are not compatible with new Collage software. To upgrade to Xitron Hi-Res RIP version 10 and the Ohio GT RIP plug-in, you must upgrade your Collage software.
Existing customers who have JawsRIP in Collage may continue to use it. However, Ohio GT is no longer supporting JawsRIP as of January 1, 2014. This means we will not change the JawsRIP software or investigate any problems with the JawsRIP. We have moved away from the JawsRIP because of customer-reported problems with it and instead offer the more stable and robust Navigator RIP. The Xitron Navigator RIP is used by all major output devices from most companies. Only Ohio GT offers the Navigator RIP and the Ohio GT RIP Plug-in for Collage.
Contact your agent or Ohio GT for information on the Xitron Hi-Res RIP and the Ohio GT RIP Plug-in. Note that you cannot return the JawsRIP nor can you exchange it for the Xitron Hi-Res RIP.
