PostScript or PDF

When the design is complete, save or export the image to be ripped for Collage. Should you save as PostScript or PDF?

If you have the Xitron RIP with the Collage RIP Plug-in, you should only save as PDF! All current design software can create PDF.

If you use PostScript, you may encounter problems with the ripped images, especially in the color names. You can run the PostScript image though the Acrobat Distiller to create PDF, which will work correctly in the RIP. This is not recommended, as you have less control than when saving as PDF directly.

The PostScript programming language was invented in 1984. PostScript version 2 was released in 1991. Version 3, the last version, was released in 1998. Adobe then created the PDF format and continues to support PDF to this day. See https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/creating-pdf-files.html for information on settings to create PDF for Collage.
